Kendriya Vidyalaya AMC was established in April, 1944 by Col. D.N. Chakravarty as a Primary School and was recognized as a Junior High School in 1951. It was later adopted as a Kendriya Vidyalaya by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan in 1963. Since then the school is run by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, New Delhi, under the Ministry of Human Resources.
Important Milestones of Development
The name of the school was changed from AMC Children’s School to AMC Girls’ Junior High School. The institution was recognized as AMC Girls Higher Secondary School, preparing students for the examination of the Board of High School and Intermediate Education, U.P., Allahabad, in July 1962.
The school was taken over in 1963 by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan, Ministry of Education, Government of India, New Delhi as a Central School for the education of children of Defence personnel, Central Government employees and other temporary population.
It was upgraded to class XII to prepare candidates for the Senior Secondary School Examination under the new pattern introduced in 1971.
The school was upgraded as a Model Kendriya Vidyalaya by the Kendriya Vidyalaya Sangathan from the academic session 1999-2000 and was again awarded the grade of Smart School from the academic session 2000-2001.
